Never had an issue with Dalby before, always my go to supplier, however the last bulk bag of seasoned hardwood I received were not to the same quality as usual. Logs do not burn well at all, they’re smouldering. Constantly feeding my log burner kindling and fire lighters just to keep it burning. Disappointing batch this time.

We've been customers for over five years and we're very pleased with the product. But their delivery times leave something to be desired. The delivery gentlemen are lovely - they just need more of them, especially around the holidays.

Please can you elaborate on the dissatisfaction with the delivery times? All of your deliveries have been made on time as are 99% of our deliveries. We see that you ordered over the Xmas period when we are closed, even though we sent multiple emails reminding customers of opening hours. We have plenty of staff and all deliveries over Xmas were dispatched on time so to give us a negative review because you chose to order when we were closed is a bit harsh.

Second order placed for logs. Easy ordering process and good communication. Unfortunately after leaving instructions for delivery and speaking to the driver, my tonne bag of logs were left outside of the gate and not inside, which is not secure. Had to move them manually to inside the garden. Not great and didn’t happen on my last order

I agreed a change of delivery date, but the logs still arrived on the cancelled date. I ordered a bulk bag but a crate was delivered. Spoke to Olivia and she agreed that I could keep at no extra cost. Without Olivia it would alll have been a disaster! Fell below Dalby usual high standards.

Bit disappointed that a few of the bags ordered in a recent delivery of 30 Dalby Gold Ash handy Bags were not very full.

I have been a customer for some years and this winter having spent over 1.3k alone with you .. But alas the last delivery I got a note saying my delivery instructions were incorrect….odd for a few years now the logs have always gone in the same place and the instructions the same ….my advice would be allow more characters in you delivery advice box …very disappointed about the snotty note I was in at the time of delivery next time tell me to my face ….I am considering taking my business elsewhere….you have been great until that unexpected and unnecessary note. You want more information for delivery give more space on you web shop!

Toby, i apologise that happened. The drivers intentions would have definitely not been to upset you in any way. It may have just been that he was struggling to understand the instructions. If you would like to call me and we can amend your delivery instructions so they are clear for all of our drivers? You have been a loyal customer for the past 3 consecutive years and we wouldn't want to loose that.

Took a long time to be delivered due to staff issues. Not found much oak yet in the mixed bag with birch, so lets see if its @ the very bottom of the bag. Looked like the owner who delivered. Normally no issues with either delivery or logs but no apology. Do like their logs though normally.

Thank you for the review. I do apologise for the delay in your delivery. I know i spoke to you directly about this and apologised on a few occasions and we managed to agree on a delivery date that suited you. If you do find that your Oak+birch mix isn't up to standard then please do email us to discuss and send across some photos so we can investigate further.

Some of the wood is too large. I was warned about this but it is expensive and I had hoped I wouldn't need to get the axe out on so many pieces

No quarrel with the product but when you pay for a set delivery date/time you expect to be kept informed if the time slot is likely to be missed. 30 mins before my time slot expired I recd a text saying to follow a link to obtain and ETA - when clicking on the link it advised me that and ETA was not available. The logs arrived two hours late and have obtained a refund of the delivery charge. Waste of a morning hanging around. Delivery driver said he had no idea that he was expected to deliver between 8.30/ 12.30 - as his firm deliver as and when they can. Seems little point in paying a delivery premium

Thank you Bryan. The delivery company do try their best to reach the AM/PM slots but sometimes due to delays/unforeseen circumstances and especially at this time of year when the pallet network and under immense pressure, sometimes they can be running a bit late. I do apologise you were not informed. We always get in touch with the customer straight away but in this case the system did not display any delay hence why you were not contacted. You were refunded as soon as we realised the time slot was not met. Alternatively, i hope you enjoy the wood and have a Merry Christmas!

Hi Bryan After further investigation we notice that your previous 4 orders met the Am or Pm specified delivery time. Like my colleague mentioned, the pallet networks run into unforeseen circumstances and if we are not informed there is very little we can do about it. Joe Owner/Director

Delivery was on time and no issue with the wood, my only issue is around the bags that they are delivered in. Apparently these are just to be thrown away into general recycling which does not fit well with me. In this day and age I think that meds rethinking.

I purchased a bag of Dalby Gold in May and the contents were fine for my new log burner, so I ordered another bag of the exactly same product in September, however after delivery when I opened the bag, I found a totally different selection. This second batch has logs of varying lengths and their size in most cases are too large without further splitting to fit my log burner. (see photo first batch at bottom, 2nd batch above). Not sure if I will order again.

Hi Thanks for the review. The logs on the bottom are standard/thin cut and the logs on the top are standard cut. You ordered standard cut both times. If you had of notified us on receipt of the goods we could have done something about the issue but you have failed to report any issue at all. We can not deal with problems if we are not aware of them. Dealing with issues that are brought to our attention is what makes us different from other suppliers. P.S I am very sure that the logs on the top will fit into a standard woodburner. If they dont then you need standard/thin cut logs. Hope this helps for future.

As we have not yet used any of the wood, it is difficult to comment. However, yet again, the delivery man was most unpleasant and uncooerative. The delivery is always a trial!

I am usually more than happy with Dalby's products and service, but my latest order was a real letdown. My usual Oak and Birch bag was not available so I called and was advised to buy a mixed bag. When it arrived, I soon discovered that not only was it predominantly Ash in the bag, which I find very hard to burn, but the logs were far too large. I called to query this and was told that the logs ARE bigger, and, basically, I should have noticed this on the website when I ordered. I went back to the website to verify this and I found no mention of the logs being larger. So, now I'm stuck with an enormous builder's bag of wood I cannot use.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. Apologies that the mixed hardwood is made up mainly of ash but this is one of our best products. We only offer our kiln dried hardwood as a standard cut, which is different in size to the ’standard/thin’ which you usually order (this will be visible on your order history) but I do apologise that we had suggested this product as an alternative for you. I have sent you an email regarding this, please let me know if you have any questions.

Our fault but we thought there was a solid cover. The flimsy plastic collects rain which gets through , if only slightly. Also , we are not looking forward to getting the logs from the bottom. As far as we can see the only easy way to do this would be to tear the plastic , which would make the crate less water resistant.

Delivery was good, although I requested the wood to drop by the garage the delivery person said he could only drop the wood on the curb. After we had a discussion he agreed to drop the wood by the garage. The delivery note did state to be dropped by the garage.
