“We have used a log burning fire for 4 years now having used a number of suppliers, some of these not local. I placed my order with Dalby, following a very favourable recommendation from a friend. The price advertised seemed very reasonable. I found the member of staff when placing the order by phone very efficient and obliging. The delivery arrived in good time, again the delivery driver was very helpful and obliging, taking the pallet on truck right op to my store. The logs were accommodated in a very strong "crate" which was very well wrapped in clear plastic. All the logs were very clean and dry looking , of regular size, packed very tightly in the crate. The logs light quite easily and provide very good long lasting heat. M G Scarborough”

“Really can't fault Dalby at all. Delivery came exactly as promised. Driver was very helpful and got the pallets as close to my wood store as possible. Ordered the beech blocks. Burn pretty well. Very easy to load into my small wood burner and also very easy to stack neatly. I felt the price was reasonable. I expect to be ordering another load next year.”

“I ve been very pleased with the wood. It was delivered at the time they said it would be. And the driver positioned the 2 sacks as close as he could which was very helpful. The wood was in good chunks so I'm not loading the stove every 20mins. It's dry and burns well. I ordered both the birch and beech which I have found to be a good mix of a slow burn and a hot burn. I will order again in the future and would recommend them.”

“Ordered a pallet of kiln dried ash on the run up to Christmas. Most other suppliers were either out of stock or had no delivery slots available before Christmas. Selected a date and although I wasn't called to confirm a delivery time, it arrived on the date requested. Not a problem for me as I'd arranged to be in for the day. Driver was polite and helpful, even wheeled the pallet down the drive and into the garage for me! Wood appears to be nicely dried and of a good quality. Would definitely recommend and use again.”

“Great service, I managed to bring my delivery day forward by 1 day with only a few days notice. Wood was very dry, should burn very well. Not sure the bag was quite the volume advertised though. To be 0.8 cubic metres the bag would need to measure 1m X 1m X 80cm, which it did but only because the the middles of the sides at the top of the bag were stretched, so it was probably more like 0.6-0.7 cubic metres. The firm was great to buy from and the quality of wood was excellent, but I would probably by a crate next time to make sure I got the amount I thought I had ordered.”

Bags are not used as a measuring device for the exact reason you mentioned above. The bags stretch and move when being filled. The volume of wood is measured in a solid container as per trading standards guidelines, and exactly 0.8m3 is loaded in to the bags. You mentioned the bag had stretched, but yet the bag was still full. This is because the bags are overfilled during bagging to be able to hold the measured amount. Sorry you felt that you hadn't received the correct amount, but be assured all the measurements are 100% correct.

“The wood was well packed in good box and is of good quality. The only complaint I have is that it did not arrive on the stated delivery day but turned up the day after without any warning. It was by pure chance that I was unexpectedly at home that day! The driver couldn't transfer the box to where I wanted so then had to spend the rest of the unpacking the box so that we could get vehicles of the drive. If we had been telephoned as promised to arrange another delivery day then this would not have happened, so we probably not be ordering again.”

Sorry to hear you delivery did not turn up on the requested day. Our third party delivery company should have informed you of this. Regarding the placement of the crate, this can only be left where it is humanly possible.
